Volkswagen’s first all-new product in many years for the Indian market, the Tiguan is also the automaker’s second SUV to be offered here after the slow-selling Touareg. Priced from Rs 27.98 – 31.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Tiguan is being assembled by the automaker at its Aurangabad, Maharashtra, plant.
Volkswagen’s new SUV is currently being offered only with a single diesel engine paired with a seven-speed DSG gearbox and four-wheel drive as standard. The motor, a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder unit, is good for 143hp and 340Nm of torque. VW claims that the SUV can return 17.06kpl.
The base grade in the carline sports LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights, body-coloured bumpers, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED tail-lamps and power-operated heated front seats on the outside. It also packs paddle shifters, cruise control, dual front airbags, front airbags, anti-lock-braking system, ESC, front disc brakes, rear disc brakes, rain sensors and park distance control. Insides comes with dark gris inserts for dashboard and front panels.
In addition to the Comfortline features, the range topping trim will also offer panoramic sunroof, keyless entry with push-button start, easy open tailgate with delayed closing function, ambient lighting, illuminated front scuff plates, reverse parking cameras and self-sealing tyres. In place of the 17-inch alloys, it gets the larger 18-inch units.
