MAHINDRA IS TRYING TO ADD NEW ELECTRIC CARS IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT.
The government will encourage the adoption of alternate fuel technology like ethanol, methanol and biofuels for use in the auto industry, Nitin Gadkari said.
200 electric taxis were running in his constituency of Nagpur in Maharashtra and he would be adding another 800 in the next few months as they were cost efficient and pollution free.
“There is need for a long-term policy for the betterment of industry,” for which the government will encourage the adoption of alternate fuel technology like ethanol, methanol and biofuels for use in the auto industry.
India’s only electric car maker, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd, has entered into a non-exclusive partnership with cab aggregator Uber Technologies Inc. to deploy its electric sedan eVerito and electric hatchback e2o Plus on the Uber platform in New Delhi, Nagpur and Hyderabad.
The first vehicles will ply on the roads of New Delhi and Hyderabad at the end of February 2018, according to Madhu Kannan, chief business officer, Uber India.
