NEW CARS TO COME WITH FACTORY FITTED NUMBER PLATES SOON.
An announcement by Nitin Gadkari, India’s Union, Road Transport and Highways Minister, says that the all the car manufacturer will now join the number plates on the manufactured cars before selling them. The same is conducted by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) at the district level.
This ensures the car when steal, we can track it down. Also, HSRPs are uniform and have in-built security features such as a self-destructive sticker with engine and chassis number of the car, which cannot be tampered. Now, since the car manufacturer are going to buy the number plates in bulk, price of it will fall drastically.
” But what is more important is there will be huge relief for people, they will have assured service from the dealer concerned and there will be 100% compliance,” said Anil Chikkara, a transport expert.
While explaining the process by our Road minister, he said, “Manufacturers will fit the plates and embossing will be done later through machine.” It also need some new technology to bring the uniformity to the price of the registration plates across states.
This move is meant to provide relief to consumers by simplifying the registration process and providing transparency on prices.
While the statement given by our Minster, he didn’t mention what about two-wheelers whether it will also be going to come with factory fitted number plates.
He also took the opportunity to talk about car safety, saying “We will not compromise with security…. what security norms we have done for economic models, same is for luxury and SUVs,” and also said that there would be no compromise regarding pollution with a number of initiatives already reportedly taken.
